At Truth About Makeup, our goal is to work with beauty brands that have the same ethical values as us. We want to support brands who care about their impact on the planet and the way they can reduce this in the industry. 

With this in mind, we welcome UK skincare brand, Husk & Seed to Truth About Makeup. Yay! 

Who Are Husk & Seed? 

Husk & Seed comprises the dream team, Wendy and Kelly, who met outside the school gates in 2012 and have been inseparable ever since. 

Wendy is an expert in all things holistic, running her own prenatal massage therapy business, including reflexology, acupressure, and reiki for 13 years. Kelly has always had a calling for natural remedies while running her own psychotherapy practice for 10 years. She eventually decided to pursue a qualification in skincare formulation. 

Combining their talents, Wendy and Kelly came together to create Husk & Seed. Their knowledge of physical and mental wellbeing gives them a heightened understanding of how the inside affects our outside, noticing how the stresses of everyday life impact our skin. Using this as a starting point, their plant-based, cruelty-free and vegan products were made to calm the senses, soothing both mind and skin. 

Why Husk & Seed? 

Well, what’s not to like?! 

What initially drew us to Husk & Seed was their dedication to the planet. Certified by Leaping Bunny, they are 100% cruelty-free, free from palm oil, and are completely vegan too. If this wasn’t enough, they also sustainably source their ingredients, working closely with selected trusted suppliers, while making sure their packaging is earth-friendly to prevent wastage. 

We also love that all the products are handmade in the Kent countryside in their granary kitchen. All their products are hand-blended, using cold-pressed oil plants, fruit butters, essential oils, and powders. They also make their products without any water, which means there is no need to add preservatives. 

Every single ingredient, jar, label, and parcel you receive from Husk & Seed has been lovingly put together by the small Husk & Seed team, who checks over the quality and freshness of your product before sending it to your home. 

What Can Husk & Seed Do for You? 

Husk & Seed accommodates all skin types, from stressed and irritated, to menopausal and mature skins. Using pure ingredients powered by plants, Husk & Seed’s products offer radiant skin, delicious fragrances, and grounding moments of calm, even amidst the chaos of our daily routines. 

Co-founder Kelly recommends the Gently Nourishing Cleansing Balm, to wash away the grime of a long day. While her routine is full to the brim with running a business and two children, her routine is short and sweet, so the cleansing balm is her top priority, because she knows giving her skin a deep cleanse will contribute to clear skin. 

Partner in crime, Wendy likes to think of her skincare routine like meditation, taking the time to pause from a busy day and inhale the soothing essential oils of their products.
